Nri community celebrated as LDS Charities, the Humanitarian arm of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, handed over the renovated Nri General Hospital and Nri Primary Health Centre to Nri Community in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The Chief Matron of the Centre, Mrs. Celine Iwuchukwu in an interview stated that when the church first came to them and notified them of their intention to renovate the hospital, they thought it to be a joke, especially as many other groups had approached them previously and failed.
''We thank the church for making this happen. Saying they will do is one thing, and doing it is another.
We are so happy for this gesture. These people are not the first people to approach us with such gesture, but they never did it. That was why we did not take them seriously when they first came, but we became convinced later because workers came and began work almost immediately''.
The President General of Nri community, Chief Kelvin Obiegbuna who received the renovated hospital on behalf of the people said, “What you people are doing is working for humanity, and we are happy that you are doing it without grudges. At a time when churches have become known for only collecting from the poor, your church is giving back freely to the people. That is the difference between your church and others”.
The Medical Director Dr. Livinus Chukwuma stated that “We are living in an age where promises are never kept but I am amazed at this kind gesture. This is a pace setting event and I am really touched. It is something worth emulating. I thank LDS Charities for what they are doing to help humanity”.
Chidi Ibeakuzie the Area Welfare Specialist for the Church explained that the dilapidated structures where given a face lift and medical equipment was also donated to the Centre. “When we came to this hospital months ago, we saw that the place was not fit to provide quality healthcare. The environment was not conducive, and they lacked everything from amenities to drugs. We had to go to work immediately, and we tiled the entire floor, reroofed the building and painted it, then donated drugs and other facilities which we thought were lacking”
Peter Ezeigwe, the Onitsha Nigeria Stake President who represented LDS Charities thanked the community and implored them to make judicious use of the donated medical equipment. He encouraged them to give back to the poor by ensuring that those who could not afford medical treatment were given consideration.
Prior to the commissioning ceremony, members of Onitsha Nigeria Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints did a clean-up exercise which lasted for 3 hours. They were joined by some community members and health workers.
LDS Charities continues to be a provider of better life for dwellers in communities across Nigeria whether they are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or not.
